Samuel Langhorne Clemens (Mark Twain) was born in Florida,Missouri in 1835 to John and Jane Clemens. His dad died when Sam was 11, so Sam supported himself as a typesetter starting at the age of 12. He went on to become a steamboat pilot, silver miner, journalist, editor,lecturer, inventor and America s greatest author. He authored some 30 books, such as The Prince and the Pauper, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur s Court, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.Sam Clemens died in 1910, but his legacy lives on more than one hundred years later.
