The Shotgun
The first weapon engineered by Mr. Playwood. This invention saw the light of day as a result of the young engineer acquainting himself with ancient comic books about superheroes which he discovered in the Great Arboreal Library.
Mr. Playwood has over ten examples of various weaponry in his arsenal, including a mechanical claw, a telescopic slingshot and a threshing hammer.
The original Shotgun was used by Mr. Playwood to hunt the bird Ruakh which stole his Snail-moneybox. This epic confrontation has been immortalized in a ballad "The Great Mr. Playwood Against the Insidious Bird Ruakh"
Much later the shotgun were used by the nomad army in their fight against the tribe of savages who came out of the Green Sea and plundered the lower branches of the Great Tree.
Caution has to be exercised when wielding the Shotgun - the recoil can kick you off a branch. Experienced shooters secure themselves with a rope made of vines before pulling the trigger.
A legendary sniper known as Squint Eye can hit a tree crab in the eye with the shotgun from a distance of fifty cubits. The tree crab is less than thrilled about it.
Using shotgun on the branches of the Great Tree during holidays is strictly forbidden. Residents of the Tree celebrate the following holidays along with the Tribe Day and the Tree Day: the Librarian Day, Fruits Giving Day, Victory over Worms Day and the Family Treehouse Feast.
The Shotgun causes no serious harm yet may cause great offense.
